Overview

Our vision is for HIV positive women to have a voice in decisions that directly affect their lives, be represented and valued at all decision making levels, and have equal access to resources and services that address all of their needs. Christie’s Place has a well established history of organizing efforts and actions to empower HIV positive women to communicate their needs. We work to strengthen women’s voices in determining policy and planning services.

For more than a decade, we have been involved in a national women’s social justice movement. We have organized across women’s intersecting realities with the vision of a culture that is just, equitable, inclusive and values women. As a grassroots organization with a broad base of power comprised of women that are traditionally at the margins, we have actively challenged racism, sexism, homophobia, class privilege, immigration status, HIV stigma, gender violence, and other issues that affect women’s lives.

Transformations-The Sisterhood Project is the agency’s advocacy programming branch of the agency.  Through Transformations  Christie’s Place provides leadership training and skills building to HIV positive women to become active participants at the planning and decision-making levels within their communities as well as organize and mobilize a network of women.  Transformations was developed to ensure the long-term engagement of our constituency in the social justice movement for HIV positive women and their family members.
